How does saving work?

Without Javascript enabled, there is no method of autosave available, you must click the Save buttons to save your work. Your work will be saved to an encrypted zip file on the server. This file can deleted/downloaded at anytime using the View Entries button.

With Javascript enabled, while you have an internet connection, your work will be autosaved every 59 seconds. You may also use the Ctrl+S shortcut to save your work as well.

If cookies are enabled, your work will be saved to secure same-site cookies. Cookies are stored locally on your browser, so this will protect your work while working offline, but cookies will be lost if the browser is closed. In order to save to backup files ant update your stats, reconnection to the internet will have to made at some point in the day. Cookies are limited, and a warning will show if cookies have been maxxed out.

You can determine if your work has been backed up on the server by looking at the symbol next to one of the Save buttons.

How to read your stats.

Once you save an entry, the entry stats will be recorded. These stats will be represented in several ways on your dashboard.

Streak - How many days in a row (excluding break days) that you reach your writing goal.

Points - User cumulative points. Each entry adds your word count as well as the sum of the goaks in your current streak.

Level - Levels reflect how many the magnitude of your cummulative points. Level 1 begins at 1000 points and more levels are gained by earning another digit in points.

Bar chart - Graphs the goals against word count for the previous five entries.

Monthly Scoreboard - Tracks your streak and progress for the month. ( ✍ - partially complete goal, ✨ - completed goal, ⬛ - break days, ❌ - nothing written)

How do encrypted backup files work?

Encrypted zip files will require a password to open. Your OS system may not be able to identify the password requirement and therefore may require another application such as 7zip or WinRAR to open. If you cannot recall this password, you may change your password on the site and redownload.

Who is the site administrator/IT contact/owner?

Hi, my name is Sarah Skinner, and you can find out more info about me here.

What happens if I disable javascript?

Javascript is used to track your wordcount as you write, recolor the page, temporarily autosave your entry in cookies (if cookies are enabled), time your entry (if cookies are enabled), and allows you to use Ctrl+S to save your entry.

If disabled, you will still be able to save your entry to backup files and track your wordcount in the database via the "Save" buttons, though the features above will not be available.
